Shabbi Phelps

Shabbi Phelps’ art practice is organic, not only in form but also in the materials she uses. Her work with clay is hand sculptured and coloured with nature’s elements of copper, salt, seaweed and oxides, giving a never-to-be-repeated finish of natural beauty. Shabbi’s paintings are mainly acrylic on canvas; with the colours freely merging, the viewer is invited to come up with their own interpretation – limited only by their imagination. Living most of her life in the country, and a great many years in the Perth hills, the beauty of the natural environment has greatly influenced Shabbi’s work.
